  1. Eddie

I recently took this intro course on AI, which was a good refresher even though I’ve been keeping tabs on the AI world for years.

    My take on it:

It’s a solid course for brushing up on AI basics.
Andrew NG is a great lecturer and explains things well.
But, I’ve got a couple of issues with it:

Andrew NG tends to push his conservative views on AI a bit too much. He says stuff like AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) isn’t happening soon and calls focusing on it a waste of time. I get where he’s coming from, but there are loads of experts who think otherwise. It kind of feels like he’s pushing a conservative agenda, which might not prep people for what could happen in the future.

Also, the field of AI moves super fast, and some parts of the course feel outdated. For example, Andrew NG says the jobs most likely to get automated are the repetitive ones, but now with stuff like advanced language models, it seems like a programmer’s job might be at more risk than, say, a plumber’s.

Overall, still an amazing course, highly recommended for everyone

+ PROS: Andrew Ng is amazing to listen to Really great entry into AI
    - CONS: Some things a little outdated
